Welcome to my new blog! Thanks for dropping in. I’m recording my first solo album of original songs and wanted to start documenting the journey. I’ve been at it for many months now. It’s been a grueling process, but one I’m lucky to fight through. Recording is no joke. Every second must be “perfect” – as the one recording would define such a word. Tonight went particularly well, and I was inspired to start sharing this experience with others. Of course, once the final product is ready, I will shamelessly promote it, but as a wise man once said – Detlef Shrempf, right? – “the journey is the destination”.
These melodies and rhythms span eight years back all the way up to the past few weeks. I would describe my music as, well, “me”. Most of my friends who have heard the incubating music thus far would concur. The recordings have also been likened to (dare I say) The Beatles, Gypsy Music, Folk, etc. I would describe it as a musical baby born of Armenian, Gypsy, Greek, Flamenco, Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, Folk, Broadway, Balkan, and Indian parents. It was a crazy night…
…And here is where the magic happens…
Yes, I grew up in this basement. That amp on the right has been through some gnarly days – from The Deathburger Thing to Thurmont to 310 w. 30th. The guitars, oud, and didg are off to the right, and the computer monitor (running through a mac mini) is off on a desk that I wish was a lot higher (new desk pending!). I’m running Logic, and it’s been amazing.
I’m on the verge of releasing my first track! I don’t want to reveal too much about it yet. I am in the hunt for a graphic designer who can help me design some beautiful imagery to go along with the music. I’ll also need to book some studio time for drums, and get the tune out onto multiple platforms. Then it will be time to start booking some gigs.
For now – it’s a start! Let the games begin!
Thank you for sharing your story and letting us enjoy the journey with you! Can’t wait to hear the first release.
Thanks for joining the ride, yavo!
